About Us

I started Asmita Atelier because I couldn't stop drawing. There's something about translating what I see—a monsoon leaf, the way light hits old tile work, a conversation overheard at a market—into something tangible that people can actually use. It felt wrong to keep these sketches in my notebook. I'm drawn to the overlooked details. The imperfect symmetry in nature. The colours that don't quite match but somehow work together.

Indian design have always moved me—not the polished versions, but the raw, lived-in beauty you find in old textiles, temple carvings, street art. I wanted to capture that feeling without being precious about it.

Some designs work better than others. Some I've scrapped halfway through. But that's the point—these aren't mass-produced patterns. They're pieces I've sat with, questioned, sometimes struggled with. Each one carries a bit of that process, that uncertainty even. When you buy something from here, you're not just buying a product. You're holding onto a moment I was trying to understand. A colour I was obsessed with. A shape that wouldn't leave my head. It's personal in a way that probably doesn't make business sense, but it's the only way I know how to work.

Hope you enjoy my work. Thank You.
